As part of its ongoing efforts to promote digital transformation in education and empower Arab education experts and specialists, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ICT Department) organized, on June 25, 2025 at ALECSO headquarters in Tunis, an Information Day on the Arabic version of the “Skills for Innovation” (SFI) program, launched in partnership with “Intel”, “Millennium@EDU Sustainable Education”, “Classera”, and “jp.ik”.
The opening session was attended by representatives of the international partners, along with several officials and experts in digital education, and educational delegations from various Arab countries.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, indicated that the SFI Program aligns with a comprehensive strategic vision to promote education in Arab countries, so that it can cope with the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He commended the constructive cooperation with the Program’s partners, and acknowledged the support provided by the Tunisian Ministry of Education in making the event a success.
The event marked the official launch of the SFI Program in the Arab region, and included presentations on its components and stages, including professional training for teachers, development of digital educational content, organization of competitions, and appointment of national coordinators in Arab countries.
Sixteen Arab countries (Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Somalia, Syria, Palestine, Oman, Sudan, Iraq, Tunisia, UAE, Mauritania, Morocco, and Libya) have so far appointed national coordinators for the Program. Some of them participated in-person at ALECSO headquarters, while others joined remotely via Zoom, contributing to rich discussions and the exchange of national experiences on how to adapt the SFI Program to each country's specific context.
The SFI program is a global initiative developed by Intel and adopted in more than 60 countries in collaboration with over 100 educational institutions. It is designed to empower teachers to effectively integrate technology into teaching methods and to enhance 21st century skills among students, such as critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and self-directed learning.
The SFI Program is expected to contribute, through various partnerships, to disseminating successful practices across ALECSO Member States and empowering teachers to lead digital transformation in their educational institutions.
