As part of its commitment to enhancing the Arab scientific visibility and highlighting prominent scientific research centers/institutions in the Arab world, and proceeding from its conviction that driving excellence in scientific research is a cornerstone for promoting the advancement of Arab societies and achieving leadership in the fields of science and innovation, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) announces that applications are now open for inclusion in the ALECSO List of Arab Scientific Research Centers. The 2025-2026 edition is devoted to research centers/institutions specializing in renewable energy.
This initiative comes as part of ALECSO’s efforts to implement the Arab Strategy for Scientific Research, Technology and Innovation and achieve the goals set out therein, which include developing the Arab scientific research system and enhancing its contribution to sustainable development in Arab countries.
The List aims to highlight research centers/institutions that make significant scientific contributions and to encourage them to continue excelling in vital fields, especially renewable energy, in a way that promotes creativity and innovation and helps develop solutions to the common challenges facing the Arab region. Through this initiative, ALECSO seeks to:
- Raise the level of competitiveness among Arab scientific research centers/institutions;
- Improve the scientific performance of Arab research centers/institutions;
- Strengthen cooperation and promote the sharing of expertise and scientific knowledge.
- Promote the dissemination of scientific culture within Arab societies.
Arab research centers/institutions that meet the criteria for inclusion in the List will receive technical and financial support from ALECSO and will host a number of events and activities organized by the Organization.
