123rd  Session of ALECSO Executive Board concludes

The 123rd  session of the Executive Board of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) concluded on May 29, 2025. 

The closing ceremony was chaired by H.E. Mr. Hani bin Moqbel Al-Moqbel, Chairperson of the Board. It was attended by members of the Executive Board, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and H.E. Mr. Sorour Al-Jarman, representative of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.

The Executive Board reviewed and approved the final accounts of the General Directorate, Subsidiary Institutions, and Special Funds for the year 2024. The members of the Board commended and appreciated the results achieved in 2024, with an implementation rate amounting to 85%. 

The Board also praised the Director-General’s report on the implementation of program and non-program activities for 2024, and commended the technical achievements made by the Organization.

The Board approved Member States’ proposals designed to reinforce ALECSO’s role and mandate. It tasked ALECSO with developing a future vision for the post-2028 period.

The Board adopted a series of resolutions concerning the State of Palestine. It reaffirmed ALECSO’s unwavering support for the educational and cultural institutions in the city of Al-Quds with the aim of protecting the Palestinian national identity, through a twinning initiative between educational institutions in Arab countries and their Palestinian counterparts.

The Board approved the formation of a specialized committee to be in charge of evaluating the educational, cultural, and scientific conditions in Arab countries experiencing emergency, conflict or disaster situations.
