Launch of Fifth Edition of the Arab Code Week

 

 

The Golden Events of the 5th edition of the Arab Code Week officially kicked off under the theme Artificial Intelligence and Programming in the Service of Arab Culture.” 

The event is organized by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) in cooperation with Saad Foundation for Knowledge and Scientific Research in Kuwait and the Tunisian Association for Educational Initiatives. 

The opening session was attended by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, H.H. Sheikha Nabila Salman Al-Sabah, Treasurer of Saad Foundation for Knowledge and Scientific Research, Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT at ALECSO, and Ms. Widad Rzouki, President of the Tunisian Association for Educational Initiatives.

In his opening remarks, the Director-General welcomed all participants, and emphasized the importance of the Arab Code Week as the Arab world’s largest annual digital event that aims to spread the culture of programming across the region.

This year’s theme, “Artificial Intelligence and Programming in the Service of Arab Culture”, was chosen to align with ALECSO’s announcement of Kuwait as Capital of Arab Culture for 2025”, reflecting the ALECSO’s strong commitment to enhancing Arab culture by leveraging modern technologies, particularly AI and programming, to support Arabic digital content.

Sheikha Nabila Salman Al-Sabah highlighted the significance of this strategic partnership in implementing this pioneering initiative aimed at promoting the integration of the culture of programming and integrating it into Arab culture. She pointed out the role of Saad foundation in supporting scientific research and innovation in various fields of knowledge, promoting scientific and intellectual culture, and supporting talented individuals in Kuwait and across Arab world.

Dr. Mohamed Jemni underscored the importance of this event in building networks among teachers and students from all Arab countries, as well as in upgrading Arab capabilities and promoting the culture of programming and innovation.

Ms. Widad Rzouki presented the Golden Activities Program, scheduled to take place from May 14 to 20, 2025.

Eng. Zied Maâzaoui, Expert at ALECSO's ICT Department and Technical Lead of the Arab Code Week platform, introduced the updated platform and provided a presentation on the process to be followed for participation in the competition’s awards.
