Dr. Mohamed Ould Amor, Director-General of ALECSO, and Dr. Hayat Guermazi, Tunisian Minister of Culture, will chair, on May 12, 2022 in Sousse, Tunisia, the opening of the Regional Symposium on “Governance in the field of Culture : Arab Experiences in Cultural Governance”, to be held on May 12-14, 2022.
The symposium, jointly organized by ALECSO and the Tunisian Culture Ministry, will be attended by Arab Culture Ministers, directors and presidents of international and regional organizations, experts representing the participating countries, along with representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Tunisia.
The symposium will explore the ways and means to enhance the culture of governance in Arab cultural institutions. Focus will be laid on governance principles, tools, mechanisms, and legal frameworks, and the role of governance in enhancing the contribution of cultural institutions to serving development goals.
The symposium includes scientific sessions to discuss the state of cultural governance in Arab countries. It also involves the presentation of Arab relevant successful experiences, with emphasis on the key role of governance in the achievement of development goals, the management of cultural projects, and the protection and valorization of heritage.
