In the presence of H.E. Mrs. Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and H.E Sheikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, President of the Board of Directors of the Arab Regional Center for World Heritage (ARC-WH), chaired, on November 19, 2021 at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the ceremony for the release of the second edition of the “Book on World Heritage Properties in the Arab Countries”.
In his statement on this occasion, the Director-General expressed his thanks to the Center and to all who contributed to the completion of the first and editions of the book that highlights the main heritage treasures in the Arab countries.
On her part, H.E. Sheikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa commended the fruitful cooperation between ALECSO and ARC-WH, and expressed appreciation of the content of the book which covers the key heritage properties across the Arab world, though it was prepared in difficult circumstances due to the pandemic.
H.E. Ernesto Renato Ottone Ramirez, Assistant Director-General for Culture at UNESCO, also expressed his appreciation of book, designed in an elegant edition that tells much about the rich urban and archeological heritage of the Arab World.
The ceremony was attended by Permanent Delegates to UNESCO, high-ranking diplomatic personalities, and representatives of international and regional organizations.
