ALECSO Director-General receives the Consul of the Comoros to Tunisia

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization, received, on August 19, 2021, H.E. Mrs. Chamsiya Moundji, Consul of the Union of the Comoros to the Republic of Tunisia.

The meeting was an opportunity to review the state of cooperation between ALECSO and the Comoros, which is exemplary in terms of activities. These include, in particular, the holding of several specialized training courses, the conduct of various activities to enhance the status of Arabic language, the holding of training-of-trainers workshops, and the participation of the Comoros in the virtual activities organized by ALECSO. In addition, the Organization has recently made a gift of one thousand computers to the Comorian Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Dr. Ould Amar presented the Organization’s future programs and activities, particularly the elaboration of the Strategic Plan 2023-2028, the reviewing of the Comprehensive Plan for Arab Culture, the establishment of the Arab Plan for Education in Times of Emergency and Crisis, and the preparation for convening four specialized ministerial conferences in the coming months.

On her part, Mrs. Moundji thanked the Director-General for the warm welcome and for the support provided to the Comoros, especially in the educational field. She stressed the Comorian leadership’s appreciation of ALECSO’s support, which helped respond to the urgent needs of the education sector during the period of school closures. She indicated that the electronic platforms provided by the Organization have actually helped to reduce the negative effects of educational disruption.
