ALECSO calls for supporting educational, cultural, scientific and heritage institutions in Lebanon

The Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) is following with deep concern the current difficult circumstances in Lebanon, after the huge explosion in the port area in Beirut, which caused heavy human and material losses.
Faced with these exceptional circumstances, ALECSO expresses its full support to and solidarity with Lebanon, and puts all its capabilities and expertise in its areas of competence at Lebanon’s disposal. It also calls on all the world’s countries as well as on charitable and financial institutions and civil society organizations to provide aid and support to Lebanon, and to work for establishing a fund to collect donations and thus contribute to repairing the damage incurred by Lebanon’s educational, cultural and scientific institutions.
ALECSO is convinced that this call will be met with a quick response from all parties, at a time when a new school season is approaching, which requires mobilizing all efforts to provide the necessary means that will ensure a safe return to school, for both students and teachers, whether face-to-face or remotely due to the continuing spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
