H.E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, paid a visit to the headquarters of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) on 9 September 2026. He was received by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, accompanied by the Organization's Directors of Departments and senior officials.
The event was attended by Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of Arab States accredited to the Republic of Tunisia, as well as the Directors-General of Arab specialized organizations. The visit reflected the close relations of cooperation and coordination between the League of Arab States and its specialized institutions.
At the outset of the meeting, the Director-General of ALECSO delivered welcoming remarks, expressing his great pleasure and pride in receiving the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States at the Organization's headquarters. He noted that the visit reflected His Excellency's keen interest in ALECSO's mission and its vital role in advancing education, culture, and science across the Arab world.
The Director-General underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between ALECSO and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States as a means of advancing joint Arab action and fostering greater synergy among Arab institutions and specialized organizations. He stressed the need for a coordinated response to the rapid transformations and challenges facing Arab societies, particularly in the areas of educational development, scientific research, the preservation and promotion of Arab culture, and adaptation to the digital age and emerging AI technologies.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States expressed his appreciation to the Director-General of ALECSO for providing the opportunity to meet with this distinguished gathering of Ambassadors and representatives of Arab specialized organizations. He affirmed that ALECSO carries out a noble mission by contributing to the development of future generations through enhancing the quality of education and preparing Arab youth to meet the challenges of the future, particularly in light of the scientific advances and rapid technological developments taking place around the world.
The Secretary-General called upon all those present to look to the future with hope, confidence, and determination, and to make optimal use of the capabilities and resources available across the Arab States. He emphasized that the future holds promising opportunities for joint Arab action, provided that cooperation and integration are strengthened and collective efforts are united to build a more advanced, resilient, and prosperous future for coming generations.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen consultation and coordination between the League of Arab States and ALECSO, support joint initiatives aimed at advancing education, culture, and science throughout the Arab States, and enhance their contribution to sustainable development and the building of a more prosperous future for the Arab world.
