ALECSO Director-General Meets Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture

 

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, met with H.E. Dr. Abdel Aziz Qonsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture of the Arab Republic of Egypt, on September 2, 2026, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Cairo.

The meeting focused on ways to strengthen cooperation in the fields of education, culture, and science, with a view to advancing joint Arab action in these areas. Discussions addressed prospects for further developing the partnership between ALECSO and Egyptian institutions, as well as leveraging Egypt’s expertise and competencies in the implementation of Arab programs and projects.

The two sides also discussed a proposal to establish an ALECSO-affiliated training center in Egypt, which would contribute to capacity-building and skills-development among Arab professionals.

The meeting further explored ways to support Arab students and researchers and expand opportunities for scholarships, training, and academic exchange, thereby promoting academic and research cooperation among Arab institutions.

The Minister reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to further supporting ALECSO and strengthening cooperation with the Organization, commending its role in advancing education, culture, and science across the Arab world.

For his part, the Director-General expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s key role in promoting joint Arab action. He reaffirmed ALECSO’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Egyptian institutions and benefiting from their scientific, cultural, and academic expertise.

Both sides agreed to maintain coordination and consultation to advance the proposed areas of cooperation in a manner that supports the objectives of knowledge-based, scientific, and cultural development across the Arab world.
