H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, paid an official visit on August 31, 2026, to H.E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat in Cairo.
The meeting addressed ways to further strengthen cooperation and coordination between ALECSO and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, in support of the joint Arab action system, particularly in the fields of education, culture, and science, while enhancing integration among specialized Arab institutions and organizations.
During the meeting, the Director-General briefed the Secretary-General on ALECSO’s mission, programs, and initiatives, highlighting its efforts to support Arab countries and develop educational, cultural, and scientific systems. He underlined the importance of strengthening coordination and integration between the Organization and the relevant sectors of the Arab League General Secretariat to ensure greater alignment of efforts and optimal complementarity among initiatives.
The meeting also discussed a number of priority issues related to joint Arab action, particularly the development of education systems and the enhancement of the quality of education. Emphasis was placed on the importance of investing in education as a key driver of development and of building a better future for Arab countries, including by attracting Arab expertise in the diaspora to strengthen scientific and academic research, while preserving Arab identity in educational curricula.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued consultation and coordination between ALECSO and the Arab League General Secretariat, with a view to strengthening the joint Arab action system and responding to the current priorities and future aspirations of Arab countries.
On this occasion, the Director-General presented the “ALECSO Shield” to the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.
