The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) extends its warmest congratulations to the leadership, government, and people of the State of Palestine on the decision of UNESCO's World Heritage Committee to inscribe the archaeological site of Sebastia on the World Heritage List and the List of World Heritage in Danger during its 48th session, held in Busan, Korea.
This inscription constitutes an international recognition of the site's outstanding universal value and its historical and cultural significance, reflecting the successive civilizations that have flourished on the land of Palestine. Its inclusion on the List of World Heritage in Danger also represents an important step toward strengthening international protection mechanisms for the site and mobilizing the necessary technical and international support to safeguard it against the threats it faces.
