ALECSO Implements Training Programme on Inclusive Education in Libya

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (Education Department), implemented, jointly with the Libyan National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, a training programme on the professional development of educators working in early childhood institutions and teachers in inclusive primary schools. The programme was held from 28 to 30 July 2026 in Tripoli, Libya, with the participation of nearly 40 trainees.

The programme was organized as part of ALECSO's ongoing efforts to strengthen education systems across the Arab region and support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The initiative also aligns with Libya's national commitments in the field of education, and is consistent with relevant international instruments that emphasize the principles of equal opportunity and equitable access to education, and the promotion of inclusive learning environments that guarantee every child's right to education without discrimination or exclusion.

The programme is designed to enhance the knowledge and professional competencies of personnel working in the school inclusion sector within Libya's Ministry of Education. It focuses on strengthening the skills of educators and teachers working in inclusive classrooms, thereby improving the quality of inclusive education services provided to children with special educational needs at both early childhood and primary education levels.

Participants include educators from early childhood institutions, teachers from inclusive primary schools, as well as school administrators, educational supervisors, and educational psychologists working in inclusive education settings. Their participation is intended to foster the exchange of expertise and support the development of effective educational practices that advance inclusive education.
