Under the supervision of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and under the patronage of H.E. Mr. Ahmed Salem Ould Bede, Minister of Digital Transformation and Administrative Modernization in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (Department of Science and Scientific Research) implemented, on June 16–17, 2026, in Nouakchott, Mauritania, the Arab program on “Digitization of Government Administration and the Future of Public Service,” in cooperation with the Arab Administrative Development Organization and the National School of Administration, Journalism, and Magistracy in Mauritania.

Dr. Mohamed Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research, speaking on behalf of the Director-General of ALECSO,  emphasized that digital transformation has become a fundamental pillar for improving the performance of scientific and educational institutions as well as government administration, and for enhancing service quality. He stressed the importance of building Arab human capacities, developing digital infrastructure, and harnessing modern technologies in pursuit of sustainable development. He highlighted, in this regard, the significant role that ALECSO plays in supporting Arab countries in keeping pace with rapid digital transformations and strengthening joint Arab cooperation in the fields of innovation and digital transformation.

The program included a series of scientific sessions and specialized workshops addressing key issues including the scientific methodology for achieving digital transformation in the government sector, data governance, personal data protection, and artificial intelligence and its applications in public services. It also featured presentations of leading Arab experiences demonstrating the capacity of educational and scientific institutions to contribute to building competencies for modernizing government administration and developing digital services.

This program forms part of ALECSO’s efforts to achieve the objectives of the Arab Strategy for Scientific Research, Technology, and Innovation, along with its implementation mechanisms aimed at strengthening Arab scientific cooperation, unifying efforts and capabilities, and promoting the exchange of expertise. It also supports digital transformation initiatives in educational and scientific institutions across the Arab world, in implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding concluded between ALECSO and the Mauritanian National School of Administration, Journalism, and Magistracy.
