ALECSO and COMSTECH sign MoU

 

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), chaired, on May 5, 2026, a virtual ceremony for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between ALECSO and the OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH). The ceremony was attended by directors of departments from both institutions.

The MoU was signed by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and H.E. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator-General of COMSTECH.

The MoU aims to enhance cooperation between the two institutions in the fields of education, culture, scientific research, technology, and innovation, in a manner that contributes to strengthening scientific capacities in Arab and Islamic countries, exchanging expertise and successful experiences, and developing joint programs and projects that serve the Sustainable Development Goals.

In their remarks, both parties emphasized the importance of this partnership in advancing educational, cultural, scientific, and technological cooperation toward broader prospects.

The two sides agreed to establish a joint committee to develop a practical program for implementing the provisions of the MoU in a manner that serves the objectives of both institutions. 

This step reaffirms ALECSO’s commitment to expanding its regional and international partnerships and building bridges of cooperation with relevant organizations, thereby strengthening its role in promoting education, science, and culture across the Arab world.
