H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, received, on April 10, 2026, Mr. Kristof W. Duwaerts, Head of Office of Hanns Seidel Foundation in Tunisia, who was accompanied by Ms. Souhir Daoud, Regional Director of Hanns Seidel Foundation in Tunis. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research at ALECSO.
The meeting explored prospects for joint cooperation between ALECSO and Hanns Seidel Foundation. Both sides expressed interest in developing effective partnerships in several initiatives and projects, particularly in supporting startups, sharing and disseminating successful experiences, and advancing green jobs, future-oriented specializations, and curriculum development in Arab universities, drawing on the experience of German higher education institutions.
Discussions also addressed the empowerment of youth, women, and female researchers in Arab countries, particularly in Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya, which fall within the scope of the Foundation’s office in Tunis.
The meeting highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in scientific research, renewable energy, and environmental sustainability. Both sides also discussed enhancing collaboration in good governance and multilateral cooperation, contributing to the advancement of education, culture, science, and research in Arab countries.
Mr. Kristof W. Duwaerts seized this opportunity to commend ALECSO’s significant efforts, across its various fields of action, in supporting Sustainable Development Goals and promoting Arab-international cooperation. He reaffirmed the Foundation’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with ALECSO and implement joint initiatives with tangible impact.
