H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, received a delegation from EMUNI University (Slovenia) on April 6, 2026. The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen scientific and academic cooperation between the two sides.
The EMUNI University delegation included Dr. Jaka Vadnjal, Head of the International Relations Office; Ms. Polona Oblak, Head of Network; and Mr. Moataz Elissawy, her assistant. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohamed Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research at ALECSO; Ms. Khairia Sallami, Program Coordinator in the same department; and Ms. Nesrin Ghnaim, Head of External Relations.
Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in several areas of mutual interest, particularly scholarships, startup support, higher education, and scientific research, as well as the exchange of expertise and best practices.
The meeting also addressed preparations for the International Conference on Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation in the Mediterranean Region, scheduled to take place in Tunis on June 23–24, 2026, in partnership with EMUNI University and the Union for the Mediterranean.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to continue coordination and joint efforts to ensure the success of the conference and to further strengthen cooperation frameworks in support of their shared goals.
EMUNI University is an international institution based in Slovenia, established in 2008 as part of the initiatives of the Union for the Mediterranean. It aims to support higher education and foster Euro-Mediterranean partnerships. The university offers specialized academic programs, particularly in entrepreneurship and innovation, and provides opportunities for study and funding within an international environment grounded in cooperation and exchange of expertise.
