H.E. Mr. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, Acting President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, received, on February 14, 2026, in the capital Mogadishu, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting reflected the strong relations between Somalia and ALECSO, and the mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation in the cultural, educational, and scientific fields.
The Acting President welcomed the Director-General, commending ALECSO’s pivotal role in supporting legislative and cultural frameworks in Member States. He emphasized the importance of pooling the efforts of legislative and executive authorities on the one hand and specialized Arab organizations on the other, in order to develop legal frameworks that support culture, education, and scientific research.
For his part, the Director-General expressed his pride in visiting the Somali Parliament, considering the legislative institution a key partner in establishing sustainable cultural and educational policies. He reaffirmed ALECSO’s readiness to provide technical and advisory expertise in modernizing cultural legislation, protecting heritage, and promoting creative industries.
The meeting reviewed ways to support parliamentary initiatives related to cultural and educational affairs, and discussed mechanisms for enhancing institutional cooperation in line with the Somali government’s national development vision and priorities.
