H.E. Dr. Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir, Minister of Education, Culture and Higher Education of the Federal Republic of Somalia, received, on February 14, 2026, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO. The meeting took place as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen joint cooperation and institutional partnership between ALECSO and Somalia in the fields of education, culture, and capacity-building.
On this occasion, an expanded meeting was held, attended by Ministry officials and relevant department directors from ALECSO. Discussions addressed the current priorities and needs of the educational, cultural, and scientific sectors, and explored ways to support national programs aimed at improving the quality of education, modernizing curricula, and strengthening institutional structures, particularly in the field of ICT.
The Minister emphasized the importance of enhanced Arab cooperation in supporting educational reform in Somalia, noting that the next phase requires qualitative initiatives focusing on teacher training, curriculum development, strengthening technical and vocational education, supporting literacy programs, and accelerating digital transformation in educational institutions.
For his part, the Director-General affirmed ALECSO’s readiness to provide a package of practical initiatives, including the organization of specialized training workshops, and the deployment of experts to support educational policy development, He also expressed readiness to contribute to the formulation of sectoral strategic plans and to support youth and women’s empowerment programs in education, in line with national development priorities.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to form joint working groups to follow up on the implementation of the proposed programs, identify priority areas of intervention, and establish periodic evaluation mechanisms to ensure measurable results that enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the education system.
Both sides underlined the importance of deepening cooperation in exchanging expertise and successful experiences among Arab countries, and fostering partnerships with relevant regional and international institutions to provide a comprehensive educational environment aligned with global developments and responsive to the aspirations of future generations.
