ALECSO Director-General and Somali Minister of Education and Culture   Visit a School in Mogadishu

 

 

As part of efforts to support the development of education in Somalia and enhance the quality of its outcomes, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and H.E. Mr. Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir, Somali Minister of Education, Culture and Higher Education, conducted a field visit to a school in Mogadishu on February 14, 2026. 

The visit aimed at examining the functioning of the educational process and identifying the needs of educational institutions.  It reflected the educational leadership’s commitment to strengthening direct engagement with the field, assessing school infrastructure, academic achievement levels, and the availability of modern educational tools; thereby contributing to improving educational quality and establishing a motivating and safe learning environment for students.

During the visit, the delegation listened to a presentation by the school administration on the educational programs in place, mechanisms for developing teachers’ capacities, and the key challenges facing the educational process. The Minister emphasized the importance of investing in human capital as a cornerstone for promoting sustainable development and building a knowledge-based society.

For his part, the Director-General expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the educational and administrative staff, and stressed the importance of continued institutional coordination and intensified technical support and training programs to keep pace with modern educational standards and enhance the competitiveness of the education system at regional and international levels.

The visit also involved an interactive meeting with a number of students, during which emphasis was placed on the importance of academic achievement, adherence to national values, and fostering creativity and innovation, all in line with the State’s strategic directions for developing the education sector.

The visit concluded with a reaffirmation of continued joint efforts to support public schools and provide an integrated educational environment capable of preparing generations to actively contribute to national development and reconstruction.
