H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, received, on January 28, 2026, Ms. Samira El-Malizi, Director of the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, and her accompanying delegation. The visit took place as part of Morocco’s chairmanship of the Forum of National Libraries in the Arab World.
This meeting formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional coordination between ALECSO and national institutions concerned with library and documentation affairs. It contributed to advancing joint Arab action in key areas, including the preservation of cultural memory, the modernization of national libraries, support for digital transformation, and the exchange of professional expertise.
Discussions provided an opportunity to review mechanisms for following up on the recommendations adopted by the Forum of Arab National Libraries, and to explore ways of implementing them at both national and regional levels. The aim is to enhance collective efforts to reinforce the role of national libraries in supporting scientific research and safeguarding Arab documentary heritage.
The visit also reflected the broader context of consolidating cooperation between ALECSO and the Kingdom of Morocco, while strengthening strategic partnerships with national cultural institutions. It underscored a shared commitment to supporting Arab initiatives that seek to develop the cultural and knowledge infrastructure of the Arab world.
