The Permanent Committee for Arab Culture convened on 30 January 2026 at the headquarters of ALECSO. The meeting was held as part of the Committee’s ongoing follow-up on the programs and projects of the Organization’s Culture Department, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening joint Arab cultural action in response to contemporary challenges and evolving developments in the Arab cultural landscape.
This session followed the Committee’s participation in the activities of the “Culture and the Green Future” initiative, organized on 28–29 January 2026.
The opening session featured welcoming remarks by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO; Mr. Rachid Mostafa, Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco and Chair of the Permanent Committee for Arab Culture; Dr. Youssef Badr Mishari, Director of the Department of Culture and Dialogue of Civilizations at the League of Arab States; and Dr. Humaid Al-Nofali, Director of Culture at ALECSO.
During the meeting, the Committee addressed several key items on its agenda. It reviewed Arab States’ nominations for the 12th edition of Arab Poetry Day and discussed the honoring of distinguished Arab cultural figures. It also examined the “Forum of Cultural and Creative Industries” initiative proposed by Morocco, the “Culture and Green Future” initiative led by Saudi Arabia, and the “Arab Culture Capitals” program. In addition, the Committee reviewed the 2025 activity report of ALECSO’s Culture Department.
