ALECSO Launches Specialized Training Program in Aden on Promotion of Inclusive Education and Empowerment of Yemeni Women

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) has launched a specialized training workshop in Aden on the promotion of inclusive education and the empowerment of Yemeni women. The workshop, held on November 24-26, 2025, focused on developing the capacities of educators and teachers in early childhood institutions and inclusive primary schools, and providing them with best practices to ensure equitable and inclusive education for all, including people with special needs, in support of national goals and in alignment with SDG 4.

The workshop was also targeted at the Yemeni Education Ministry’s staff in charge of school integration, with the aim of enhancing their competencies and their ability to manage inclusive classrooms and apply modern practices in educating students with special needs.

Second Workshop:" Future-Inspiring Women” for the Empowerment of Girls

This workshop focused on strengthening leadership, creativity, and digital-age skills among girls, in line with ALECSO’s vision for the empowerment of women and the building of a generation capable of actively contributing to community development and national progress. It saw the participation of women leaders, activists, and professionals from the education and community sectors.

The program was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Rami Iskander, Director of Education at ALECSO, and Dr. Hafida Saleh Nasser Al-Shaikh, Secretary-General of the Yemeni National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science, in the presence of the Undersecretary of Minister of Education of Yemen.

Both workshops were conducted with the participation of a team of specialized experts and around 60 participants, including educators, teachers, and heads of early childhood institutions and primary schools, as well as active female leaders from the governorates of Aden, Lahj, and Abyan.

The program placed special emphasis on empowering Yemeni women in terms of leadership and decision-making, by training participants in strategic planning, team management, initiative-taking, and problem-solving, in alignment with national and international goals for achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment.

This training program is part of ALECSO’s 2023–2028 Action Plan, and is designed to support national efforts to improve the quality of education outcomes, by enhancing skills in designing inclusive learning environments, using continuous assessment tools, and adopting innovative teaching methods that improve learning quality.
