The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization took part in the 110th session of the “Committee on Educational Programs for Students in the Occupied Arab Territories”, held on November 16-20, 2025, at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat in Cairo, Egypt.
Speaking on behalf of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Kamal, Director of the Institute of Arab Research and Studies, extended congratulations to Amb. Faed Mustafa on assuming the position of Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories. He offered an overview of ALECSO’s efforts in support of education in Palestine. He called on Member States and higher education institutions to offer fee exemptions and reduced tuition fees for Palestinian students suffering from aggression and blockade. He urged Arab universities to launch initiatives to accommodate Palestinian students and enable them to pursue their higher education. He called on States to support Palestinian educational curricula as a sovereign right that reflects national identity, and emphasized the importance of funding alternative education systems, especially distance learning, and providing training for educational staff to cope with crises.
Participants in this session included, alongside ALECSO, the State of Palestine, Egypt, Jordan, ICESCO, UNRWA, ASBU, the Egyptian Radio and Television Union, and other Arab and international institutions concerned with Palestinian affairs.
