Under the patronage of H.E. Mr. Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh, Jordanian Minister of Culture, a coordination meeting for the preparation of the joint Arab nomination file titled “Hand-crafted Pottery – Related Skills and Practices" was held on August 19-21, 2025, in Amman, Jordan.  The meeting was attended by Dr. Humaid Al-Nofali, Director of Culture at ALECSO, and Mr. Sultan AlKhlaif, Secretary-General of the Jordanian National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science, along with representatives from 18 Arab countries.

The meeting featured specialized sessions on the preservation of intangible cultural heritage and the importance of awareness-raising efforts in this regard. It also involved field visits to several Jordanian cities listed by UNESCO as world heritage cities for tolerance and urban hospitality, as well as cities included on the List of Islamic World Heritage. There were also visits to prominent archaeological sites such as the Amman Citadel and the Roman Theater, as well as to museums and traditional pottery-making workshops.

The meeting discussed ways to promote the inclusion of hand-crafted pottery in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and its connection to sustainable development.
