The 10th session of ALECSO’s High-Level Forum for Heads of Scientific Research Councils and Bodies kicked off on September 11, 2024 at ALECSO headquarters. The theme chosen for this session is “Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Arab Scientific and University Communities : Sharing and Promoting Experiences”.
The opening ceremony was attended by several ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions, heads of scientific research bodies, institutions, and councils, along with specialized experts from Arab and foreign countries.
In his opening address, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, welcomed all participants and underlined the importance of this session in fostering the role of entrepreneurship and innovation in developing scientific solutions to meet the critical challenges facing the Arab world. The Forum, he added, offers an opportunity to share national and international experiences in terms of entrepreneurship and innovation in academic and scientific communities, and to identify strengths and weaknesses in pursuit of further improvement.
The Director-General called for stepping up Arab efforts to strengthen cooperation among Arab councils and bodies concerned with scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He also stressed the need for building networks, facilitating communication with regional partners, as well as supporting Arab multidisciplinary development initiatives and integrating them into the global market.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research at ALECSO and Chair of the Forum’s Preparatory and Scientific Committee, commended the high level of participants from Arab and foreign countries, including prominent Arab diaspora scholars specialized in entrepreneurship and innovation. He highlighted ALECSO’s keen interest in keeping pace with modern times and addressing various issues related to scientific and technological research.
During the opening ceremony, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between ALECSO, represented by Director-General Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, and the Arab Planning Institute in Kuwait, represented by Director-General Dr. Abdullah Fahad Al-Shami.
