ALECSO Director-General presents the draft paper of the Arab Cultural Summit to Ambassadors of Arab States and heads of Arab organizations in Tunisia

At the invitation of H.E. Dr. Saud Hilal Al-Harbi, Director-General of ALECSO, a meeting was held on October 2, 2018 at ALECSO Headquarters, bringing together the Ambassadors of Arab States accredited to Tunisia, the Heads of the Tunis-based Arab organizations, and the Head of the Arab League Center in Tunis.
This meeting was an opportunity to exchange views on the draft paper developed by ALECSO on “Arab cultural security: a civilizational and humanitarian demand”, as part of preparations for the Arab Cultural Summit, decided by the Arab Summits and confirmed by the 29th ordinary Arab Summit held in Saudi Arabia in March 2018 .
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Harbi presented the broad lines of the paper, focusing on its underlying vision, general objectives, and the means of achieving them. He stressed that Arab cultural security is the gateway to achieving social security.
Dr. Al-Harbi highlighted, on this occasion, the importance ALECSO attaches to cooperation with Arab Ambassadors, and its endeavor to keep them regularly informed about ALECSO's activities and to draw upon their views, visions and experience. He added that their ideas and proposals will be included in the paper before submitting it to the 21st Conference of Arab Culture Ministers, scheduled for October 14-15, 2018 in Cairo, Egypt.
Following the Director-General’s extensive overview, a fruitful discussion was held during which a number of ambassadors and heads of organizations put forward important proposals and ideas to enrich the content of the paper.
In the end, the Director-General thanked all Ambassadors and heads of organizations for attending the meeting and contributing valuable ideas and proposals, and for their insistence on the regular holding of such meetings which enhance joint Arab action.
