ALECSO Director-General receives Libyan Minister of Technical and Vocational Education

 

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, received, on May 12, 2023, at ALECSO headquarters, H.E. Mr. Yakhlef Al-Sifaw, Minister of Technical and Vocational Education in the State of Libya.

The Director-General welcomed the Minister and his accompanying delegation, and seized this opportunity to thank the State of Libya for its continuous support to ALECSO’s efforts to promote and develop the TVET system, and  to enhance joint Arab action in the fields of education, culture, science and scientific research. He commended, in this regard, the Arab States’ efforts and initiatives designed to enhance the governance of the TVET sector and improve the quality of its programs and outputs.

The Director-General indicated that ALECSO, the Arab house of expertise in its areas of competence, stands ready to assist the State of Libya and all Arab countries in implementing projects and programs to strengthen the TVET sector. One of ALECSO’s key priorities, he added, is to support Arab States’ efforts to develop specializations that meet the needs and requirements of the job market, and to direct investments toward creating an infrastructure that contributes to achieving sustainable development.

For his part, the Libyan Minister thanked the Director-General for his tireless efforts to enhance and scale up joint Arab cooperation, indicating the effective launch of the programs and projects that will be implemented in line with the two sides’ shared vision.

The meeting discussed ways of enhancing cooperation and coordination between ALECSO and the Ministry in various fields of shared interest. 

Dr. Rami Iskander, Director of the Education Department, gave a brief presentation on ALECSO’s efforts and achievements in the TVET sector, and its future plans in this regard. He indicated that ALECSO will harness all its technical capacities to promote the TVET sector in Libya and across the Arab World. 

Dr. Iskander highlighted the Education Department’s key focus areas in the coming period,  especially in relation to  skill and competence development for a comprehensive and sustainable economy in light of green digital transformation, the professional and pedagogical development of TVET teachers, and the enhancement of TVET quality in light of the ever-changing job market requirements.

Dr. Iskander indicated that a TVET digital platform is being developed to serve as a digital incubator for training for future occupations and crafts and for stimulating creativity and innovation.

During the meeting, the Directors of ALECSO’s technical departments offered brief overviews of the TVET-related programs and activities scheduled for implementation during the period 2023-2024.
