ALECSO participates in Workshop of Regional Working Group on Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization took part, on May 4-5, in Dubai, UAE, in the workshop on digital transformation for sustainable development, organized by the Department of Sustainable Development at the League of Arab States, in the presence of representatives of Arab States and relevant Arab organizations, and in partnership with Google Dubai Office.

The workshop discussed a range of themes related to science, technology and innovation, Artificial Intelligence for Sustainability, digital transformation, capacity-building, and skill development.

ALECSO was represented in this event by Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT Department, who gave a presentation on ALECSO’s projects in the fields of technology, digital transformation and artificial intelligence. 

Dr. Jemni highlighted the Organization’s efforts to promote digital transformation in the Arab world and to keep pace with current digital developments, especially in terms of educational technologies, in line with Goal 4 of the Agenda for Sustainable Development (“ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”).

Dr. Jemni reviewed some of the main projects ALECSO is currently working on, including the project to promote AI education in primary and secondary schools in the Arab countries, the unified Arab Blockchain-based certificate authentication  system, the Arab Code Week, designed to familiarize children and youth with the basics of programming at an early age, and the NFT platform project, which aims to encourage youth innovation and entrepreneurship in the digital field.
