ALECSO congratulates Yemen and Lebanon on inscription of two cultural properties on World Heritage List

On the occasion of UNESCO’s inscription of the Landmarks of the Ancient Kingdom of Saba, Marib, Yemen, and the  Rachid Karami International Fair, Tripoli, Lebanon, on the World Heritage List, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) extends its warmest congratulations to the Republic of Yemen and the Republic of Lebanon.

ALECSO highly appreciates this step which will increase Arab properties inscribed on UNESCO’s heritage lists, and draw the international community’s attention to the dangers threatening both properties which are at the same time inscribed on the List of World Heritage in Danger.

In fulfillment of its commitment to preserving cultural heritage in the Arab region, ALECSO will spare no effort to support Yemen and Lebanon in their efforts to take care of these cultural properties, counter the dangers to which they are exposed,  safeguard and valorize them,  and leverage them to promote cultural heritage in both countries.
