ALECSO Director-General attends opening ceremony of the 13th  Arab Theater Festival

 

The 13th edition of the Arab Theater Festival kicked off on January 10, 2023, in Casablanca, Morocco, in the presence of  H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO.

The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Moroccan Minister of Culture, Youth and Communication, H.E. Mr. Ismail Abdullah, Secretary-General of the Arab Theater Authority, and H.E. Dr. Salim Mohammed AlMalik, Director-General of ICESCO.

In his statement on this occasion, the Director-General congratulated all Arab intellectuals and artists, being the conscience of the Arab Nation, whose creative works are a driver for innovative thinking and societal change.

The Director-General stressed that this edition of the festival takes place after ALECSO’s Conference of Arab Culture Ministers proclaimed January 10th of each year the Arab Theater Day, an annual opportunity to take stock of the efforts made by Arab countries to develop the theatrical art and to address the issues of concern to Arab theatrical artists.

The Director-General stressed that ALECSO attaches significant interest to  Arab cultural affairs, particularly the theatrical art, given the role of theater as a tool for education and awareness, a means of bringing about social and cultural change and combating extremism, hatred and racism, as well as a driver for promoting sustainable human development and creative and cultural industries.
