ALECSO Director-General meets Arab League Ambassador to France and UNESCO

 

 

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, met on November 19, 2021 at UNESCO headquarters, with Dr. Naji Abbasi, Ambassador of the League of Arab States to France, Permanent Delegate to UNESCO.

The Director-General expressed his pleasure to have this meeting which offered an opportunity for explore ways and means of strengthening joint Arab action, in line with ALECSO’s goals and mission. He reviewed the Organization’s key achievements over the past five decades, and highlighted the main initiatives undertaken in response to COVID-19 education disruption, including the provision of online platforms and computer devices for countries with special needs.

The Director-General commended the valuable cooperation existing between ALECSO and UNESCO, especially through the joint programs developed by the two Organizations as part of the cooperation agreement signed in 2001.

On his part, the Ambassador expressed his thanks to the Director-General for the tremendous efforts invested by the Organization, stressing ALECSO’s central role in preparing young people through promoting quality education and creative culture that preserves identity with all its components. 

The Ambassador also thanked the Director-General for the forward-looking vision pursued by the Organization, which involves promising, accurate and practical programs designed to promote joint Arab action. He emphasized the need to benefit from the longstanding relations between ALECSO and UNESCO which pursue common goals and objectives, and expressed his readiness to provide support to ALECSO so that it can best fulfill its mandate in the educational, cultural and scientific fields.
