ALECSO concludes training workshop on   “Using the Research- and Inquiry-based Approach in Science Education”

 

 

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, chaired, on April 7, 2021, the closing of the training workshop on “Using the Research- and Inquiry-based Approach in Science Education”.

The workshop was held virtually via ZOOM on April 6-7, 2021 by the Department of Science and Scientific Research, jointly with the Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science. It was attended by 49 trainees, including curriculum design specialists and science teachers in Omani schools, along with Ms. Amna Bint Salim Al-Balushi, Secretary-General of the Oman National Commission and members of the Commission’s personnel.

Trainees were familiarized with the theoretical framework of the research- and inquiry-based approach and the importance of adopting this approach in the teaching of science in the Arab world. A number of practical examples were presented in accordance with the constructivist and social constructivist approaches.
