 Tunisian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research  receives Director-General of ALECSO

 


H.E. Dr. Olfa Ben Ouda, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Tunisia, received, on October 19, 2020, at the Ministry’s headquarters, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Director-General congratulated the Minister on her appointment, wishing her every success in fulfilling her mandate. He commended the support offered to the Organization by the Tunisian official authorities so that it can perform its mission in the best of conditions. He also expressed his appreciation of the process of cooperation between the Organization and the Ministry, and stressed the need to strengthen these relations in order to meet common goals.
With regard to the COVID-19 crisis and the consequent education disruption, the Director-General reviewed ALECSO’s successful experience in response to the crisis since March 2020, which involved the development of e-learning platforms and the translation of awareness booklets. He also expressed ALECSO’s readiness to provide educational platforms for Tunisian universities and to take advantage of modern technologies to promote distance learning.
On her part, the Tunisian Minister thanked the Director-General for this visit which offered the opportunity to discuss cooperation between the two parties. She commended the efforts made by ALECSO to enhance its work in all its fields of competence and to make its expertise and outputs available for all member States. She stressed the need to focus attention on searching new solutions that would enable the higher education and scientific research sector to adapt to the current exceptional circumstances, by making more extensive use of technological means and tools.
Coordination will continue between the Ministry and the Organization to pursue the implementation of joint projects, especially as regards the development of a shared vision for the future of scientific research in the Arab world, and the ranking of Arab universities.
