Culture and Heritage Protection Directives

1. Emphasizing Arab Culture unity; working for supporting common Arab cultural endeavor; strengthening links between the ministries in charge of cultural affairs in the Arab world; coordinating between cultural programs implemented by these ministries while elaborating a national plan aimed at achieving complementarity between cultural and information policies in the Arab world.

2. Reflecting a clear, bright image of the Arab-islamic civilization through Arab-African and Arab-European relations (fostering Arab-African, Arab-European, Arab-Asian and Arab-Ibero-American dialogue), through openness to the media in order to correct the image of Arab civilization and thought, as well as enhancing the image of Arab culture and civilization in the internet, while elaborating an implementation strategy for the launch of a services websites network for Arab cultural information.

3. Protecting the civilizational and cultural heritage in Jerusalem and the rest of occupied Palestinian and Arab territories; striving -among intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations- to disclose Israeli practices in destroying Arab-islamic cultural establishments and distorting their characteristics.

4. Supporting the efforts of intergovernmental organizations concerned with re-incapacitating damaged cultural properties in Arab territories by awareness-raising, restoration, maintenance, or due registration to preserve Arab historical memory.

5-Protecting Irak's cultural heritage from the aftermaths of war, and cooperating with intergovernmental organizations for the resumption of what has been looted from its ruins.

6. Supporting Arabic teaching among Arab emigrants' children, and among non-Arabic speakers with the help of modern technologies and means.

7. Setting to action Arab participation in cultural activities via the intergovernmental organizations concerned with culture, UNESCO and ISESCO at the head.

8. Granting interest to Arab child culture and using Arab civilization culture and deriving profit from available technological means to that matter.

9. Studying the cultural globalization phenomenon in the framework of clear criteria and relevant strategies likely to cope with its harmful aspects and deal with its useful ones, and granting due regard to it; and studying social transformations in the shade of globalization.

10. Stressing importance granted to creation whether literary or artistic towards a compromise between authenticity and modernity.

11. Promoting the cultural industry sector, working for the setting up of a common Arab Culture Market, holding Arab cultural industry fairs in cooperation with Arab countries, as well as supporting Arab cultural content materially and morally in order to preserve Arab heritage.

12. Setting up a national strategy for cultural tourism in the Arab world in cooperation with concerned parties in the respective countries.

13. Treating intellectual property issues in light of the International Trade Agreements, and enhancing copyright status in Arab countries.

14. Stressing the connection obtaining between cultural programs and communication programs, and highlighting Communication program's cultural content.

15. Building a regional database on material and immaterial Arab cultural properties and achievements.
