Issue 158 of the “Arabic Manuscripts Newsletter” is out !


The ALECSO-affiliated Institute of Arabic Manuscripts has recently released the 158th issue of its digital quarterly newsletter (June 2018).
Special attention is paid, in the issue, to the Arabic Manuscript Day, celebrated under the theme of “Jerusalem : When heritage is taken hostage”. This event was held at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat, under the patronage of the Arab League Secretary-General and the ALECSO Director-General.
The current issue provides news about :
- The Institute and its activities during the second quarter of this year,
- Universities, institutions, manuscript editors, researchers, and new books, in the Arab world and elsewhere,
- The international conference held by the Institute in cooperation with the Manuscript Laboratory at Ziane Achour University of Djelfa, Algeria, and the mission for photographing and sharing manuscript holdings in Tolga, Algeria,
- The specialized training session held by the Institute, on April 20-25, 2018, for Goethe University professors, under the theme of "The Arabic Manuscript : from Codecology to Critical Publishing",
- The first heritage forum (2018), which celebrated the publication of Dr. Abdul-Aziz Al-Manaa's book “Ala Khuta Al-Mutanabbi”.
The current issue invites researchers to contribute papers for a special file on “Abdullah Muhareb: heritage and editing”, to be published in the Institute’s refereed journal.
The issue includes articles on Khadija Al-Hadithi and Fuat Sezgin who have recently passed away.
