ALECSO participates in Regional Workshop on “Syria Crisis Education Response”

The Jordanian capital, Amman, hosted, on July 10-13, 2017, the second regional workshop on “Syria Crisis Education Response”, held by UNICEF and UNHCR, with the participation of representatives from Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq and Turkey, and from relevant regional and international organizations.
This workshop was an opportunity to examine the data, indicators and activities related to the management of the education services offered to Syrian refugee and migrant students in host countries, and to explore ways to facilitate their access to quality education at all stages.
Pr. Hechmi Ardhaoui, representative of ALECSO, presented, during the opening session, ALECSO’s Initiative for the Education of Arab Children in Conflict Areas and Under Occupation. He offered an overview of the high-level regional meeting on “Education for Refugees in the Arab Region : Challenges and Future Prospects”, held by ALECSO, in cooperation with UNHCR, on May 18-19, 2017, in Tunis, Tunisia, and highlighted its main outputs, including the “Recommendations” and the “Tunis Declaration”. He also reaffirmed that ALECSO is keen on boosting coordination and cooperation with the relevant UN institutions and regional organizations in order to increase learning opportunities for Arab refugee and migrant children and guarantee their right to quality education.
