ALECSO Director-General condemns the destruction of the Tetrapylon monument in Palmyra

ALECSO condemned the destruction, by Daesh, of the Tetrapylon monument in Palmyra, and the severe damage caused to the Roman Theater.
On his part, ALECSO Director-General, Dr. Abdullah Hamad Muharib, strongly condemned this criminal act perpetrated by criminal extremist groups against cultural assets and civilizational treasures. He considered that this heinous act against a civilizational monument represents a war crime and an assault on the Syrian memory and on the material and immaterial cultural heritage of Mankind. He exhorted the international community and the Security Council to prevent the further perpetration of such crimes which defy the will of the world as a whole, undermine the sources and foundations of universal memory, and cause severe damage to the Syrian people’s traditions, history and treasures.
